Floral Art and Interpretation

Floral Art and Interpretation gives me the opportunity to get creative. The process of floral art begins with lots of research and time taken to delve deeper into the meaning behind the theme, text or image that I am using as inspiration. I then create detailed mood boards, before beginning to assemble the floral arrangement.

Please contact me with any inspirational pieces of art, text or themes that you want to be developed into floral art. I am also happy to create mood boards for you to then take forward for any events or occasions. See below to have a look at a selection of my floral artwork.

Interpretation: Time orders old age to destroy beauty

This piece of floral art is inspired by the painting ‘Time orders old age to destroy beauty’, painted in 1746 by Pompeo Batoni. I was struck by the richness of colours and drapery of fabric in the painting, alongside the striking three characters in the centre of the painting. I utilised the plant material to reflect these rich colours and striking characters. I also delved into the meaning behind different flowers and used this knowledge to add symbolic flowers to the arrangements. For example, White Calla Lily represents beauty, and the Black Rose represents old age.

Guy Fawkes

Here is one of my favourite designs, mentioned above, inspired by Autumn. I drew on autumnal colours and calendar events to create a Guy Fawkes mask utilising seasonal leaves and flowers.
